Meet Our Founder,
Krish Shah
His route to opening The Alter Ego took him through engineering, consulting, marketing and professional kitchens. He studied robotics, trained at Le Cordon Bleu in London, worked at PwC in Mumbai and completed a master’s in Marketing Intelligence in New York.
Opening a restaurant was always the plan. He thought he’d do it later in life, once everything else was settled. Eventually, he realised there was no perfect time to start. Back in Mumbai, he worked at The Bombay Canteen and Brunch & Cake before building a place of his own.
The Alter Ego brings together the cities he’s lived in, the food he loves and what he’s learned about looking after people. He wants the team to take the food seriously, make guests feel comfortable and be a team that cares. He hopes every guest leaves with a favourite dish, a good memory and has a reason to come back.

Our Story
Some days, you want a coffee and something comforting. On others, you want to dress up, order a cocktail and make an evening of it. The Alter Ego was built for both.
It brings two distinct experiences under one roof.
Downstairs, Blanco is an easygoing, all-day space for coffee, casual meals and conversations that run longer than planned.
Upstairs, Noir shifts the mood with an elevated dining room, a speakeasy-style bar and a menu made for exploring.
And Eclipse, our private dining room, where both Noir and Blanco meet.
The food and interiors, take their cues from Mumbai, London and New York, cities that shaped our founder’s life and appetite. We serve modern, global cuisine, starting with familiar dishes and finding ways to make them our own. The same curiosity carries into our cocktails, from well-made classics to drinks inspired by food.
